About the event

Palabras at the Table: When Publishing Says No with Adriana Herrera

Add-On Lunch Conversation | Limited Seating

Join Adriana Herrera for an intimate, small-group lunch conversation about funding your work when traditional publishing hesitates, delays, or declines.

When a project is not immediately supported by the industry, writers are often left with a difficult question: wait for approval, or move independently? In this curated conversation, Adriana reflects on her decision to pursue crowdfunding when publishing was not ready to support a particular project what informed that choice, what she learned about community and creative control, and how writers can think clearly about timing, sustainability, and financial agency.

This is not a pitching session and not a step-by-step crowdfunding workshop. It is a candid, strategic dialogue about decision-making under constraint when to wait, when to pivot, and how to resource the work responsibly without burning bridges or romanticizing independence.
